KARGIL: District Police Kargil on Friday organised an essay and debate competition for school students at District Police Lines (DPL), Kargil, as part of the month-long Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign being conducted across the district.
Students from 20 schools, invited through the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Kargil, participated in the programme and presented their views and ideas during the competition. The event provided students a platform to demonstrate their writing, expression and public speaking skills.
The programme formed part of a series of awareness activities being conducted by District Police Kargil under the ongoing campaign. A signature campaign has also been launched, while a similar awareness programme was organised at Degree College Kargil, which was attended by around 150 college students.
The participating school students expressed appreciation for the opportunity to take part in the competition and showcase their abilities.
Superintendent of Police, Kargil, appreciated the standard of expression and confidence displayed by the participants and said the police would continue to provide such platforms to the younger generation.
The competition was aimed at engaging students through educational and participatory activities as part of the wider campaign against substance abuse.
District Police Kargil reiterated its commitment to community service and to supporting awareness initiatives involving young people across the district.
