NEW DELHI: Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited (AIC) has been conferred the Impact Leadership Award at the 17th Agriculture Leadership Awards 2026 in recognition of its contribution to strengthening agricultural resilience through technology-enabled and farmer-focused insurance solutions.

The award was presented by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Dr. Lavanya R. Mundayur, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of AIC, during the awards ceremony held in New Delhi.

According to the company, the recognition acknowledges AIC’s role in extending risk protection to millions of farmers through flagship schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and the Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS).

Apart from crop insurance, AIC said it has broadened its portfolio by offering insurance products for livestock, aquaculture, poultry, shrimp farming and other allied agricultural sectors, with the objective of providing comprehensive risk coverage to the farming community.

The company stated that it has increasingly integrated technologies such as satellite imagery, remote sensing, artificial intelligence, geospatial applications and advanced data analytics to improve transparency in assessments, expedite claim settlements and enhance service delivery.

AIC said the award reflects its continued emphasis on innovation, operational efficiency and technology-driven insurance solutions aimed at strengthening farmers’ resilience and supporting the long-term sustainability of India’s agricultural sector.
