ZANSKAR: Around 250 personnel, officials and students joined a Mega Swachhata Abhiyan at Kachothang in Zanskar on Monday, in an initiative focused on cleanliness, environmental conservation and responsible waste management.

The campaign was organised by the ‘Forever in Operations’ Division of the Indian Army in collaboration with the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Civil Administration, Police and local schools.

Participants from the participating organisations and educational institutions took part in the cleanliness drive under the spirit of “Swachhta Mein Sahbhag”, reinforcing the role of collective participation in maintaining clean surroundings and protecting the local environment.

The campaign also sought to promote awareness about responsible waste management in Zanskar, where the fragile high-altitude environment makes proper disposal and management of waste particularly important.

The drive concluded with a Swachhata Pledge, during which participants reaffirmed their collective commitment to the objectives of “Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat” and a cleaner and greener Zanskar.

The participation of the Army, BRO, civil administration, Police and local schools brought together government agencies, security personnel and students for a common cleanliness initiative at Kachothang.
