KHALTSE: Students, faculty members and digital creators at Government Degree College and Higher Secondary School Khaltse were briefed about the Gems of India Challenge during an awareness session organised by officials of the District Information Office, Leh, on Wednesday.
The session focused on the objectives of the initiative and the opportunities it offers creators to showcase the cultural, social and geographical distinctiveness of their districts through original digital storytelling.
Officials made a detailed presentation on the contest, including the awards available at the district, Union Territory and national levels. Short videos on the initiative were also screened to familiarise participants with its format and objectives.
A step-by-step demonstration of the registration process, video uploading procedure and other contest guidelines was conducted during the session.
Students, influencers and faculty members from both institutions participated in the programme and interacted with the officials during a question-and-answer session. Queries relating to registration, submission of videos and other aspects of the challenge were addressed.
Participants were informed that the pilot submission window for the Gems of India Challenge is open until August 31, 2026.
The initiative seeks to encourage citizens, particularly young people and aspiring digital creators, to produce authentic digital stories highlighting local cultural heritage, traditions, handicrafts, cuisine, folk arts, landscapes and other distinctive features.
Officials of the District Information Office urged young creators from Leh district to use the platform to present Ladakh’s heritage and identity to audiences across the country while also showcasing its tourism potential.
