Khachu Leads IYD Observance at BJP Leh Office



LEH: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ladakh, observed International Yoga Day with enthusiasm at its headquarters in Leh, with party leaders and workers participating in yoga sessions and underscoring the role of the ancient practice in fostering physical fitness, mental well-being and a balanced lifestyle.
The programme was chaired by BJP Ladakh State President Tashi Gyaltson Khachu, who described yoga as India’s enduring contribution to the world and said it has evolved into a global movement promoting holistic health. He encouraged people to incorporate yoga into their daily routine to maintain discipline, improve overall wellness and achieve mental peace.
Addressing the gathering, Khachu highlighted the growing global acceptance of yoga and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for popularising the practice on the international stage. He stressed that regular yoga practice contributes to a healthier society by promoting both physical and mental resilience.
The event witnessed the participation of senior BJP functionaries, including Convenor Gyal P. Wangyal, Co-Convenor Dorje Angchuk, Nawang Samstan, Rinchen Dolkar and Thinley Dorje, along with members of the BJP State Executive.
State Morcha office-bearers, including Mahila Morcha President Rinchen Dolkar, Yuva Morcha President Thinless Chumik and Kisan Morcha President Lobzang Larjay, also joined the programme alongside executive members, District President Rigzin Chubi, representatives of Upper Leh and Lower Leh Mandals and party workers.
Participants performed various yoga asanas during the session and reiterated their commitment to embracing a healthy lifestyle through the regular practice of yoga.
The programme formed part of the wider observance of International Yoga Day, celebrated annually to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga and encourage its adoption as a tool for enhancing physical and mental well-being.
