Garkhon-Darchiks delegation raises village issues
LEH: Several residents of Nurla village joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under the leadership of party’s Ladakh president Tashi Gyaltson Khachu, while a delegation from Garkhon-Darchiks separately raised local concerns with him, according to a press release issued on Friday.
The new entrants from Nurla include retired Sub-Inspector Sonam Angdus, several retired Army personnel and grassroots workers previously associated with the Congress party. The joining took place in the presence of former Chief Executive Councillor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson; BJP State Vice President and Sham Prabhari Tonyot Tashi; former Khaltse councillor and State Spokesperson Lobzang Sherab; Yuva Morcha President Thinlay Chumik; and Kisan Morcha President Lobzang Larjey.
The new members expressed confidence in the BJP’s leadership and cited the developmental initiatives undertaken in Nurla and across Ladakh as a reason for joining the party. They pledged to strengthen its organisational presence in the Sham region and work collectively for Ladakh’s development and public welfare.
In a separate development, a delegation comprising the Nambardar and other members of Garkhon-Darchiks village met Khachu to highlight problems and concerns faced by residents.
The delegation apprised the BJP Ladakh president of various issues affecting the village and sought his intervention in resolving them. Khachu heard their concerns and assured the representatives that the issues would be examined and necessary steps taken to address them at the earliest, the press release said. The meeting provided village representatives an opportunity to bring local concerns directly to the attention of the BJP’s Ladakh leadership.
