SRINAGAR: The Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch (BTSM) on Saturday organised a youth convention in Srinagar during which political workers from different parties joined the organisation, while its leadership appealed to citizens to celebrate Independence Day by hoisting the National Flag and participating in local events.
Held at Hotel Marhaba, the convention was chaired by Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, State Secretary of the Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. According to the organisers, the programme drew participation from local youth and members of the organisation.
During the convention, several political workers associated with different political parties, including the National Conference (NC) and the Apni Party, formally joined the Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch. The new members said they would work towards promoting the organisation’s objectives relating to national unity, cultural heritage and public awareness.
Addressing the gathering, Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday criticised the National Conference-led government, alleging that it had failed to meet public expectations, particularly on issues concerning employment, development and public welfare.
The event was jointly organised by Tariq Ahmad Bhat, District Youth President, Anantnag, and Zuhaib Naik, District President, Srinagar. Participants were urged to mark the forthcoming Independence Day by hoisting the National Flag at their residences and taking part in local celebrations.
In a message shared during the programme, Dr. Vivek Sharma, President of the Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and National Co-Convener of the organisation’s Intellectual Forum, called upon citizens to reaffirm the ideals of national unity, cultural heritage and national sovereignty on Independence Day.
He also highlighted the organisation’s efforts to create awareness among young people about Kailash Mansarovar and Tibet, describing them as part of India’s civilisational and cultural heritage, and encouraged youth to contribute towards national development and unity.
The convention concluded with a vote of thanks and a collective pledge by participants to strengthen the organisation and take part in future awareness campaigns and programmes related to national integration across Jammu and Kashmir.
