ANANTNAG: The Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch (BTSM) has intensified its organisational outreach in Anantnag, with a workers’ meeting here focusing on grassroots expansion, youth participation and awareness of issues concerning Tibet and India’s Himalayan border regions.

The meeting, held at Town Hall, Anantnag, was chaired by Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, State Secretary of BTSM for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, and organised under the leadership of Tariq Ahmad Bhat, District Youth President, Anantnag.

Several political and social workers from different backgrounds joined the organisation during the meeting. BTSM leaders welcomed the new members and said their participation would strengthen its presence at the grassroots level.

Addressing the gathering, Khanday stressed organisational unity, discipline and commitment among workers, urging them to expand the organisation’s outreach and engage wider sections of society.

Tariq Ahmad Bhat underlined the role of youth in advancing the organisation’s objectives and called for greater participation in initiatives concerning national unity, cultural awareness and India’s strategic interests.

The meeting also focused on BTSM’s stated objective of creating awareness about Tibet and what it describes as India’s historical, cultural and spiritual links with Tibet, besides promoting public awareness of the Himalayan region’s security, environmental and cultural relevance.

The forthcoming Tawang Yatra was also discussed at length.

Dr Vivek Sharma, National Co-Convener of the Intellectual Forum of BTSM and President of BTSM for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh UT, said the yatra would provide participants an opportunity to understand Tawang’s cultural, religious and strategic importance.

He urged workers and youth from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh to participate actively in BTSM programmes and said the initiative would promote awareness of India’s Himalayan frontier and cultural heritage. The meeting concluded with workers reaffirming their commitment to expanding BTSM’s organisational network, increasing youth engagement and pursuing its stated objectives concerning Tibet, cultural preservation and national interests.
