DODA: Chief Principal Census Officer (CPCO) and Director, Directorate of Census Operations, J&K and Ladakh, Amit Sharma on Thursday reviewed preparations for Census-2027 in Doda, directing census officials to ensure accurate enumeration, regular field verification and complete coverage, particularly in snow-bound, tribal and difficult-to-reach areas.

Sharma chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, where he assessed the progress of Population Enumeration and reviewed preparations across the district. He stressed that every entry must be correctly recorded, cross-checked and verified, with no eligible household or individual left out.

The Population Enumeration phase is scheduled from September 1 to 30, 2026. Sharma directed district census authorities to intensify awareness campaigns through newspapers, pamphlets, social media, local influencers, social activities and other available communication platforms, with special focus on residents of remote and snow-bound areas.

He also called for regular field visits, inspections and random quality checks by Charge Officers and supervisors, stressing strict adherence to census guidelines. Particular attention, he said, must be given to migratory populations, tribal communities, forest areas and other special categories to ensure comprehensive coverage.

The meeting also examined technical issues confronting field teams. Officials were informed that mobile devices being used for Population Enumeration must meet prescribed specifications, including at least 8GB RAM and Android version above 13. The issue of enumerators and supervisors possessing devices below the required configuration was discussed for resolution.

Principal Census Officer and Deputy Commissioner Doda Krishan Lal assured full administrative support for the exercise and directed officers to closely monitor field activities and adhere to the prescribed schedule and guidelines.

Additional District Census Officer Vijay Kumar briefed the meeting on preparations and progress, including the Census-2027 schedule for J&K, review of administrative units in Doda, House Listing Operations conducted from June 1 to 30, 2026, deployment of census personnel, training, preparations for Population Enumeration and identification of snow-bound villages and blocks.

Sharma also directed officials to monitor migration routes and ensure enumeration of eligible tribal and other mobile populations. The meeting reviewed training programmes, awareness campaigns, supervision mechanisms, Self-Enumeration and field-level monitoring arrangements.

He called for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to ensure that Census-2027 is conducted efficiently and transparently, with the highest possible standards of accuracy and completeness.
