CPO Dhawan stresses last-mile delivery and infra upgrades

ZANSKAR: The Centre on Thursday reviewed the implementation of the Aspirational Block Programme (ABP) in Karsha, with Central Prabhari Officer Ravi Dhawan (IAS) directing departments to accelerate development works, strengthen inter-departmental coordination and improve last-mile delivery of government services to ensure inclusive development in the remote block.

During his visit to Karsha Block, Dhawan assessed the progress of developmental and welfare initiatives being implemented under the Aspirational Block Programme, emphasising the need for timely completion of ongoing projects, efficient utilisation of government resources and regular monitoring of flagship schemes.

He instructed implementing departments to address infrastructure gaps, improve service delivery mechanisms and ensure that the benefits of government programmes reach every eligible beneficiary without delay.

Reviewing the performance of departments including Rural Development, Public Health Engineering, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, the Central Prabhari Officer examined the progress of ongoing projects, key performance indicators and challenges affecting implementation in the geographically challenging region.

Dhawan also visited educational institutions, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) and Anganwadi Centres to assess the quality of public services at the grassroots level. He interacted with teachers, students, health workers, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and officials from various departments to obtain first-hand feedback on the implementation of government schemes.

At an Anganwadi Centre, he appreciated the promotion of locally available nutritious food under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and the Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP), observing that the use of indigenous food products contributes to improved nutritional outcomes while preserving traditional dietary practices.

The Central Prabhari Officer also held interactions with Village Education Committee (VEC) members, school representatives and local Nambardars, who submitted representations highlighting developmental priorities and local requirements. Assuring them of appropriate follow-up, he said their concerns would be examined in coordination with the concerned departments.

Addressing a gathering at Langmi School, Dhawan underlined the importance of quality education, community participation and coordinated institutional efforts in achieving sustainable and inclusive development, while encouraging students to strive for academic excellence.

He commended the district administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Omkar Rajendra Gundage (IAS), for maintaining effective coordination among departments and ensuring focused implementation of the Aspirational Block Programme despite the region’s difficult terrain and climatic conditions.

The visit, officials said, reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to strengthening governance at the grassroots, promoting convergence among departments and accelerating inclusive development through effective implementation of the Aspirational Block Programme in Karsha.
