DRASS: Deputy Commissioner Drass Imteeaz Kacho on Monday called for sustained efforts to improve the quality of school education, strengthen digital learning facilities and enhance teacher participation during a review of the education sector at the office of the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Drass.

Kacho reviewed issues concerning primary and middle-level education, school infrastructure, academic activities, staff strength and ongoing construction works during his interaction with ZEO Mohammad Ibrahim and other officials.

The ZEO briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the functioning of schools, the progress of construction works and the academic situation in Drass. He also apprised him of the confidence and potential demonstrated by students in the area.

Emphasising the need to improve academic outcomes, Kacho called for greater attention to smart classrooms, computer facilities and the active involvement of teachers in the overall development of students.

He directed attention towards students requiring additional academic support and suggested that teachers provide remedial assistance wherever necessary. He also stressed the need to motivate students to prepare for competitive examinations, including the All-India Civil Services examination.

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed infrastructure and construction-related issues and suggested exploring the feasibility of an indoor facility and an Exhibition Hall to provide students and young people with wider opportunities for learning and engagement.

Kacho appreciated the efforts of the School Education Department and called upon officials to maintain greater focus and commitment towards strengthening educational institutions and creating better opportunities for students in Drass.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited the Public Library, which is temporarily housed in a block of the Higher Secondary School, Drass, and interacted with students and library staff.

He encouraged students to develop regular reading habits and make greater use of the library by borrowing books for leisure reading. He also stressed the need for proper maintenance and systematic arrangement of books to ensure that the facility remains accessible and useful to readers.
