LEH: The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh, has concluded a four-day Social, Emotional and Ethical (SEE) Learning training programme, certifying 36 Heads of Institutions (HOIs) and teachers to implement the programme in PM SHRI and other participating schools.

The training, conducted from July 27 to 30, was organised to strengthen the professional capacity of school leaders and teachers by equipping them with practical strategies to foster students’ social, emotional and ethical development alongside academic learning.

Participants included Heads of Institutions and teachers from PM SHRI Schools, while educators from a few private schools also attended the programme, providing a broader platform for collaborative learning and professional exchange.

The sessions were facilitated by Thinless Wangmoo, Senior Lecturer and SEE Learning expert at Government Higher Secondary School, Khaltsi; Tsering Angmo, Lecturer and SEE Learning expert, DIET Leh; and Nishant Payal, SEE Learning expert and Programme Manager, Piramal Foundation. Through interactive discussions, group activities and practical demonstrations, the resource persons focused on classroom practices aimed at promoting empathy, emotional well-being, ethical values and inclusive learning environments.

Presiding over the valedictory function, S. D. Namgyal, Principal, DIET Leh, congratulated the participants on successfully completing the programme and urged them to implement the SEE Learning framework in their respective institutions. He emphasised that the holistic development of children requires equal attention to emotional well-being and ethical values alongside academic achievement. Certificates of successful completion were presented to all participants, while resource persons were honoured with mementoes for their contribution to the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Tsering Yangdol, Head of Department, DIET Leh, encouraged participants to serve as role models in promoting empathy, compassion, emotional awareness and ethical conduct through their everyday classroom practices.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Tsering Tundup, Senior Lecturer and Programme Coordinator, who acknowledged the support of the Principal, resource persons and participants for ensuring the successful conduct of the programme. Zakir Hussain, Programme In-charge, Piramal Foundation, Kargil, remained associated with the training throughout and supported its implementation. Officials said the programme forms part of DIET Leh’s continuing efforts to enhance teacher capacity and improve the quality of school education by enabling educators to create classrooms that promote not only academic excellence but also emotional resilience, ethical awareness and responsible citizenship.
