KARGIL: District Police Kargil and officers of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Tuesday conducted a joint security review and mock riot-control drill to assess preparedness, deployment and response capabilities amid the prevailing security situation in the district.

The joint exercise followed a detailed meeting between District Police officers and CRPF personnel, during which the security scenario in Kargil was reviewed and matters concerning preparedness and coordination between the two forces were discussed.

As part of the assessment, officers and commanders were familiarised with probable town areas of Kargil headquarters to review the deployment requirements and preparedness of the forces for potential law-and-order situations.

A stock check of law-and-order gear, equipment and munitions available with the District Police and CRPF companies stationed in Kargil was subsequently carried out.

The exercise then moved to the District Police Lines, where personnel from both organisations conducted a mock riot-control drill in hybrid mode. The exercise was preceded by a brief training session conducted by Drill Instructors from the District Police and the CRPF.

The joint drill was aimed at familiarising personnel with coordinated responses during potential law-and-order situations and strengthening operational preparedness through joint training and field-level coordination.

Meanwhile, all requisite logistics have been arranged and put in place for the newly inducted CRPF company stationed in Kargil, according to the District Police.

The exercise forms part of the security preparedness and coordination measures undertaken by the District Police and the CRPF to maintain readiness for any emerging law-and-order challenge in the district.
