DRASS: District Police Drass held a public outreach programme at Shimsha on September 16, sensitising local villagers about drug abuse, cybercrime and the three new criminal laws while seeking greater community cooperation in preventing crime and maintaining peace and security.

The programme, attended by a large number of villagers, was conducted by the Station House Officer, Drass, who briefed participants on the risks associated with drug abuse and cybercrime and apprised them of the provisions and implications of the three new criminal laws.

Police officials also emphasised the importance of public participation in preventing unlawful activities and maintaining security at the community level.

During his interaction with residents, the Superintendent of Police, Drass, assured them of the continued support of District Police Drass in addressing local security concerns and making communities safer.

The SP sought public cooperation in the Ladakh Police campaign against drugs and other social problems, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly share information about unlawful activities with the police.

Residents were also advised to keep a close watch on activities involving young people and immediately inform the police about anti-social behaviour or any activity that could pose a threat to the safety and security of the area.

The police further urged villagers to remain alert to suspicious persons and activities and extend cooperation in the tenant-verification process involving non-local labourers.

The outreach programme also provided residents with an opportunity to raise their grievances and concerns directly with senior police officials. The SP listened to the issues raised by the participants and assured them that the matters would be taken up for early redressal through appropriate channels.

District Police Drass said such community-level interactions were aimed at strengthening police-public relations and community participation in crime prevention and maintaining local security.

The police reiterated its commitment to working with residents and other stakeholders to promote a safe, secure and drug-free society across Drass.
