NUBRA: The Health Department’s Sub-District Hospital (SDH), Nubra, conducted an awareness camp at Diskit on Wednesday under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, combining drug abuse awareness with basic health screening and ABHA registration services for residents and other participants.
The camp focused on the health and social consequences of drug abuse, with medical professionals and Social Welfare Department representatives urging participants to avoid substance use and support community efforts towards a drug-free society.
Dr Amir Bashir counselled participants on the harmful effects of drug abuse and its implications for health, stressing the importance of staying away from drugs.
Representatives of the Social Welfare Department also sensitised participants about the health and social consequences of drug abuse and underlined the need for collective action and community participation in addressing the problem.
Alongside the awareness sessions, participants were provided medical screening services, including blood pressure and blood sugar checks. Registration and awareness regarding the ABHA Card were also facilitated during the camp.
Residents as well as local and non-local individuals participated in the programme and availed themselves of the health screening and awareness services.
The camp formed part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan aimed at strengthening community awareness about substance abuse and promoting healthier lifestyles.
