KARGIL: ICDS Project Kargil has successfully concluded a two-day training programme under the “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” initiative aimed at strengthening Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) services across Anganwadi Centres in the district.
Conducted in a phased manner under the supervision of Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Kargil, Ms. Parveen Akhtar, the programme focused on enhancing the professional capacity of Anganwadi Workers and equipping them with practical tools to improve early learning outcomes among children.
The training was attended by CDPO Kargil Ms. Parveen Akhtar, Block Coordinator, Supervisors, ICDS Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), and Anganwadi Workers representing various sectors of the project.
Resource sessions centred on play-based learning methodologies, effective use of low-cost and no-cost Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs), and a comprehensive understanding of the ECCE curriculum. The programme sought to strengthen participants’ ability to deliver quality preschool education while supporting the holistic development of young children.
Participants actively engaged in group exercises, practical demonstrations, interactive discussions and hands-on learning activities designed to promote experiential learning. Anganwadi Workers also made presentations showcasing their understanding of child-centric educational approaches and classroom engagement techniques.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Parveen Akhtar highlighted the importance of integrating nutrition with early childhood education and underscored the crucial role played by Anganwadi Workers in nurturing children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development during their formative years.
She said a strong foundation in early learning contributes significantly to a child’s future educational journey and overall well-being, making quality ECCE interventions an essential component of community development. The programme concluded with a renewed commitment from the department to further strengthen ECCE initiatives under the Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi campaign and ensure a nurturing, stimulating and child-friendly environment in Anganwadi Centres across ICDS Project Kargil.
