KARGIL: The ICDS Project Kargil concluded the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah at the remote village of Batambis on Thursday with a community-focused programme aimed at improving nutrition, maternal and child health and early childhood development.

The concluding programme, coordinated by Tohira Banoo, Coordinator, ICDS Project Kargil, focused on taking nutrition awareness and essential healthcare services closer to beneficiaries in remote and underserved areas.

During the programme, participants were sensitised on various themes of Poshan Maah, with emphasis on balanced nutrition, healthcare, early childhood education and community participation.

An awareness-cum-registration drive under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) was also conducted to identify eligible beneficiaries and facilitate their registration for the scheme.

Health screening of beneficiaries was carried out by ICDS ANMs, while Anganwadi Workers received hands-on training in accurate growth measurement techniques to strengthen monitoring of children’s nutritional status.

The programme also highlighted the role of frontline workers in identifying nutritional concerns at an early stage and ensuring that nutrition and healthcare services reach families in remote communities.

The conclusion of the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah reaffirmed the ICDS Project Kargil’s focus on improving nutritional outcomes and strengthening the delivery of nutrition, maternal and child health services at the grassroots.
