Former Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal assigned Delhi responsibility; reshuffle announced by BJP president Nitin Nabin

LEH: Former Ladakh Member of Parliament Jamyang Tsering Namgyal has been appointed a co-in-charge of the BJP’s Delhi unit, while Rajkumar Bhatia, a party leader from Delhi, has been named the BJP’s in-charge for Ladakh, in a major organisational reshuffle announced by the party on Wednesday.

The appointments place two leaders from different organisational backgrounds in charge of the BJP’s work in Delhi and Ladakh respectively. The reshuffle, announced by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, covers organisational teams for all 28 states and eight Union Territories and takes effect immediately.

Namgyal, who served as the BJP’s Lok Sabha member from Ladakh from 2019 to 2024, has been assigned the Delhi responsibility along with Darshana Jardosh. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe has been appointed the Delhi in-charge.

For Ladakh, the party has appointed Rajkumar Bhatia as in-charge, with no co-in-charge listed in the new organisational arrangement.

The appointments are part of a wider restructuring of the BJP’s organisational machinery, with the party assigning new in-charges and co-in-charges across the country. Several senior leaders have been given responsibility for more than one state as the party reorganises its teams ahead of the 2027 Assembly election cycle in several states.

For Ladakh, Bhatia’s appointment assumes particular importance as the party’s organisational responsibility in the Union Territory passes to a leader from outside the region. The BJP’s latest list places him directly in charge of the party’s Ladakh organisation.

Namgyal’s new assignment, meanwhile, takes him beyond Ladakh’s organisational and political landscape to the national capital. His appointment as Delhi co-in-charge gives the former MP a role in the BJP’s organisational work in the Union Territory of Delhi.

The announcement also includes changes in neighbouring Jammu and Kashmir, where Satish Poonia has been appointed BJP in-charge and Reena Kashyap of Himachal Pradesh as co-in-charge. Poonia has also been assigned charge of Punjab.

The reshuffle includes appointments for all 28 states and eight Union Territories, with the BJP assigning organisational responsibilities to senior leaders across regions.

Namgyal’s appointment was welcomed by BJP leader Hassan Pasha, who, in a post on X, congratulated him and described his organisational experience and commitment to the party as assets for its work in Delhi. Pasha also wished him a successful tenure.

The new arrangement marks a fresh organisational phase for the BJP in Ladakh, with Bhatia taking charge of the party’s UT unit while Namgyal moves into a new organisational role in Delhi.
