PM Modi to virtually address youth under ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’
LEH: Leh is set to become part of one of India’s largest youth-led anti-drug awareness campaigns on August 2, as Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), Leh organises the ‘Drug-Free Youth for a Developed India (Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat) – Pledge Campaign’, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide virtual address to young people under the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’.
The campaign, an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports in collaboration with MY Bharat, seeks to mobilise young people against substance abuse while promoting a healthy, responsible and drug-free lifestyle in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
The programme in Leh will be held on August 2 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at the Conference Hall, where around 180 to 200 participants, including students, educators, MY Bharat volunteers and representatives of various institutions, are expected to participate. The event will feature a live telecast of the Prime Minister’s address, administration of the anti-drug pledge and an awareness session highlighting the role of youth in building a progressive, drug-free society.
The nationwide campaign is expected to engage more than one crore youth through programmes organised simultaneously across thousands of locations, bringing together schools, colleges, NSS volunteers, MY Bharat Youth Clubs, NGOs, industrial associations, spiritual organisations and other social institutions. Participants across the country will collectively take the Nasha Mukti Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to remain free from substance abuse and inspire others to join the movement.
A major highlight of the initiative will be the launch of the 100-week ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’, under which regular Sunday activities such as sports and fitness events, cultural programmes, meditation sessions, walkathons, awareness drives, street plays and community outreach programmes will be organised to sustain youth participation in the anti-drug campaign.
The campaign also includes an ongoing e-Pledge drive through the MY Bharat portal and district-level competitions in folk songs, mime acts, short films, painting, debate and slogan writing to encourage creative advocacy against substance abuse. Winners will progress to state-level contests before the campaign culminates in the proposed National Nasha Mukti Youth Conclave in New Delhi on August 14, 2026, where outstanding contributors will be recognised.
Officials said the initiative reflects the Government of India’s continued efforts to strengthen the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan by encouraging youth-led action, community participation and sustained public awareness against drug addiction. MY Bharat Leh has invited educational institutions, youth organisations, volunteers and other stakeholders to actively participate in the programme and contribute towards building a healthier, stronger and drug-free India.
