LEH: Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Tangtse, conducted an awareness programme on the ban on Single-Use Plastic (SUP), sensitising students about the environmental hazards posed by plastic pollution and encouraging the adoption of sustainable alternatives.
The programme focused on educating students and staff about the long-term impact of plastic waste on ecosystems and the importance of environmentally responsible behaviour. Participants were urged to play an active role in reducing plastic consumption and promoting cleanliness within their communities.
As part of the campaign, all students and members of the teaching staff took a pledge to refrain from using plastic items within the school premises and to support efforts aimed at creating a cleaner and healthier environment.
In a move aimed at ensuring strict adherence to the initiative, the school administration resolved to impose a fine of ₹100 on any individual found entering the campus with plastic items. The measure is intended to strengthen compliance with the plastic ban and reinforce awareness among students and visitors.
The programme concluded with a collective commitment from students and staff to contribute towards environmental conservation by embracing eco-friendly practices and supporting the broader campaign against single-use plastics.
