LEH: Traffic Police Leh, in collaboration with the local Biker Association, conducted a joint road safety awareness and enforcement campaign across the district, issuing challans to two-wheeler riders found without helmets and subsequently distributing free safety helmets sponsored by Royal Enfield.

The campaign combined enforcement of mandatory helmet regulations with measures aimed at facilitating compliance, as traffic personnel conducted vehicle checks and took action against riders violating the prescribed safety norms.

Following the enforcement action, high-quality protective helmets were distributed free of cost to riders through the Biker Association. The association also provided recipients with guidance on the correct fitting and use of the helmets.

The initiative was aimed at strengthening road safety awareness among two-wheeler users and reducing the risk of serious injuries and fatalities arising from road accidents.

Senior officials of Traffic Police Leh said failure to wear protective headgear continues to be a major factor in the severity of injuries and fatalities involving two-wheelers. They said the campaign was intended to reinforce awareness of statutory traffic regulations while providing a practical means for riders to comply with the helmet requirement.

The Biker Association facilitated the logistics and distribution of the helmets sponsored by Royal Enfield and assisted riders in understanding the proper use of the protective equipment.

Traffic Police Leh urged all two-wheeler operators and pillion riders across the district to wear helmets on every journey and comply with mandatory road safety regulations. The department reiterated that enforcement would continue alongside road safety awareness initiatives aimed at improving compliance and promoting safer road-use practices across the region.
