KARGIL: The University of Ladakh (UoL), Kargil Campus, organised a career awareness and guidance session on opportunities in the Armed Forces on International Youth Day, offering students first-hand insights into defence careers and the qualities required for service.

The session was aimed at familiarising young people with career opportunities in the defence sector and encouraging them to consider professional pathways based on discipline, leadership, commitment and public service.

Major Sunil Udai of 206 SATA Bty, Khumbathang, who attended as the guest speaker, interacted with students and shared information about career options in the Armed Forces. He underlined the importance of physical and mental preparedness, discipline, dedication, perseverance, leadership and a strong sense of responsibility for those aspiring to join the defence services.

The interaction also gave students an opportunity to hear directly from a serving member of the Armed Forces and understand the demands and responsibilities associated with a career in the defence sector.

Earlier, Dr Imtiyaz Hussain, Coordinator, Department of Botany, Kargil Campus, welcomed Major Sunil Udai by presenting a traditional Khatak, reflecting Ladakh’s cultural traditions.

The session also focused on the wider role of youth in nation-building, encouraging students to explore careers that combine professional growth with public service.

Faculty members, programme coordinators and students from various departments attended the programme. First-semester students from the Integrated BPES–MPES, Integrated BCA-MCA, Integrated B.Sc.-M.Sc. Forensic Science, Integrated B.A.-M.A. Arabic, Integrated B.A.-M.A. Geography and Integrated B.Sc.-M.Sc. Chemistry programmes participated in the session.
