Schools, PRIs and Civil Society to Join Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign
KHALTSI: Deputy Commissioner Sham, Kunzes Angmo (JKAS), on Thursday chaired a meeting to finalise preparations for the sixth anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign, calling for coordinated efforts to promote a drug-free society and wider public participation in Independence Day activities.
The meeting, held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Khaltsi, focused on planning awareness programmes and assigning departmental responsibilities for the district-wide campaigns.
Addressing officers and stakeholders, the Deputy Commissioner said the anti-drug campaign requires the collective involvement of government departments, educational institutions, law enforcement agencies, community organisations and civil society to spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse, particularly among young people.
She directed departments to organise rallies, seminars, awareness programmes, pledge-taking ceremonies, cultural events and community outreach activities across the district. Schools, colleges, Panchayati Raj Institutions, youth clubs, religious organisations and local community groups have also been asked to participate actively.
During the meeting, it was decided that the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Pledge will be administered across the district on August 18. The Deputy Commissioner also instructed departments to actively implement the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign from August 12 to 17, encouraging citizens to hoist the National Flag at their homes and participate in the “Selfie with Tiranga” initiative by uploading photographs to the designated portal and social media platforms.
The administration also decided to organise programmes based on patriotic themes and national songs, while Partition Horrors Remembrance Day will be observed on August 14 through awareness activities.
The meeting was attended by officers from various government departments, school principals, representatives of religious and community organisations, and civil society groups. It concluded with a detailed review of the activity calendar and coordination measures for the successful implementation of both campaigns across Sham district.
